I recently underwent surgery at your practice, and I wanted to share my experience to help enhance the care provided to future patients.While my overall experience with Dr Cornejo was excellent—he demonstrated a wonderful bedside manner and made me feel at ease—the initial interactions with the staff left much to be desired. During the preparation phase, I encountered some discomfort that could have been avoided. For instance, when the first staff member lifted my pant leg, I mentioned that I have a bad knee, but unfortunately, she did not seem to acknowledge my concern. A brief explanation of her actions would have been helpful, as well as a more gentle approach to avoid putting pressure on my knee. Additionally, the blood pressure cuff was applied quite tightly, which caused significant discomfort. A more gradual approach or a brief explanation of the necessity for the tightness could help patients feel more at ease. When the nurse came in to assess my veins, I felt a bit taken aback by her response when I said I didn’t know which arm had better veins. A more empathetic approach would go a long way in making patients feel comfortable, especially when they are already anxious. Instead of slapping my vein, which was quite painful, perhaps using a warm compress beforehand could help ease the process.I also found the lack of explanation regarding the need for two needle insertions a bit concerning. Clear communication about why a second insertion was necessary would have alleviated some of my anxiety. Despite these initial challenges, I want to emphasize that Dr Cornejo's care and the success of the procedure itself were commendable. I appreciate the skill and professionalism displayed during the surgery and my recovery has been smooth. Thank you for considering this feedback. I believe that with a few adjustments in communication and approach, the experience for future patients could be significantly improved.
